Our studio is located in Poolesville Village Center on Fisher Avenue in the heart of Poolesville, Maryland.

Poolesville is located northwest of the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, nestled in the Agricultural Reserve of Montgomery County, Maryland. It is rural, peaceful, and historical, providing a drive that will relax and prepare the soul for dancing!
Studio A contains a large 56′ X 25′, sprung dance floor covered with the Harlequin cascade professional dance surface. Studio B is 35′ X 19′ with the same floor. Mirrors are installed the full length of each studio. The waiting area provides room for families to sit comfortably, or catch their dancer train through studio windows. There are also designated areas for students to study before their next class. Adjacent restaurants offer sandwiches, coffee, and pizza with ample parking. For in-town shopping opportunities go to the Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
All students are treated with respect: the tiny dancer in a tutu; the teenage athlete who seeks to gain strength and flexibility; the adult who realizes the health benefits of dance and movement; and the aspiring professional dancer who will one day grace the stage of a major dance company.
History
Essence Studios was originally founded as Hope Garden Ballet Academy (HGBA) in 1998 by Artistic Director Emeritus Fran Ichijo. In 2008, the independent, non-profit performing troupe Hope Garden Children’s Ballet Theatre (HGCBT) was launched to give the dancers of HGBA and other local dancers a chance to perform in professional quality ballet productions. Essence Studios will continue the tradition of providing the highest caliber of teaching and performing, preparing the dancers for careers in classical ballet, as well as a lifetime of joy in dance and the performing arts. Essence also strives to bring the benefits of many dance forms to Poolesville’s close-knit and supportive community.
