Essence Studios classes are open to all students who wish to train at the studios located in the Poolesville Village Center in Poolesville. Essence does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, age, color, national origin or sexual orientation.
Applications are accepted with or without dance training, but ballet students are required to take a preliminary placement class, upon which the correct level will be assessed. All Intermediate ballet classes and above require a set audition prior to the fall semester. Class placement is based upon an assessment of the student’s fine and gross motor skills, the curriculum, the specific Vaganova level requirements, a student’s natural talent, and their peer levels of social development and age.
There are four steps to registration:
1. Fill Out the Registration Form
Students can register for the spring, 2022 semester by filling out the on-line form at the bottom of this page or by printing, filling out and turning in the Essence Studios Registration Form. Hard copies of this form are available at the studio.
2. Fill Out Required Forms
In order to be enrolled, a parent/guardian must fill out and sign the following downloadable forms. These forms will be kept on file, so returning students will not need to resubmit these forms unless there is a change in the information. Hard copies are also available at the studio.
3. Read and Agree to the Studio Policies
The student and a parent/guardian for students under the age of 18, must read the Essence Studios Policies, then sign and hand in the Policies Agreement Form, thereby agreeing to follow the rules and policies of the studio. Hard copies of this form are also available at the studio.
4. Make Payment
If registering during the semester, tuition will be prorated, so you will not pay for classes that have already happened. Please contact us online, via email at EssenceStudios29@gmail.com, or in person at the studio, to determine the starting date and the appropriate tuition. Payment can be made at the studio by check or credit card, or an invoice for a credit card payment can be emailed to you. If writing a check please make it out to Essence Studios and include the student and class name in the memo. An additional 2.9% charge will be added to tuition for any credit card payments.

Payment for Adult Movement Classes:
- YOGA: Payment for these All yoga classes are drop-in classes. Payment for single classes or for a 10-class punch card can be made at the studio by cash, charge, or check made out to Essence Studios. If writing check, please put the name of the class and the date in the memo. A 10-class punch card can also be purchased online through the purple link below. PLEASE NOTE that it can take 24 hours for this online purchase to be processed, and for the card to be ready at the front desk of the studio.
- TEEN/ADULT BALLET: Listed above as a semester class, but can also be paid for on a drop-in basis. Payment ca be by cash, charge or check.
- ADULT TAP, BEGINNER and INTERMEDIATE CLASSES: Payment is drop-in, $15 by cash or check, $15.44 by charge. Or attend both classes back-to-back for $27 by cash or check, $27.78 by charge.
